Riverdale

Riverdale was the C.W’s top 10 hit show for the last 7 years, concluding with a total of 7 seasons. The cast of Riverdale has brought many of us laughs, tears, and emotions on high alert, but it has been the best 7 years I could ever think of. For some time now, I have been wanting to write this review of Riverdale. Here lately, I have been on a Riverdale marathon, and I started from the very beginning of it all.

Riverdale starts off by showcasing the cryptic small-town death of Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines) aka Cheryl Blossom’s (Madelaine Petsch) twin brother. In the first season, we are all reintroduced to the main characters from the Archie Comics, including Archie Andrews (KJ Apa, The Hate U Give), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart, Hustlers), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes, Palm Springs), and Jughead Jones(Cole Sprouse, Five Feet Apart). They all come together in the very hit show, Riverdale. It's a small town where everyone knows everyone, with mystery, misery, love and love lost.

Riverdale doesn’t just draw the fans in, but worldwide, Riverdale makes you feel like you are home. Its a feeling that all your life you really have been Archie, Jug head, Betty, and Veronica. This show makes you want to get up to sing and dance. You feel in tune with it. It all started in season one with the opening scene of a death; a mystery that shadows over the town of Riverdale. In the show of Riverdale, you meet Archie’s dad, Fred Andrews, played by none other than Luke Perry (Beverly Hills 90210, Dylan McKay), Jug Head’s dad, F.P. Jones (Skeet Ulrich), Archie’s mom, and Mary Andrews (Molly Ringwald). Its filled with all the famous actors and actresses whom we all know well.

One of the many things I have always loved about the show, Riverdale, is how the time period has always been all over the place, but the show technically take place in present day. Riverdale definitely jumps across different eras with its scenery and props. In one shot, you might see Archie getting off a bus that looks like it belongs in a movie from the 1950’s. In another shot you’ll see Jughead on a MacBook. Then there was when season 4 villain left VHS tapes on everyone’s doorsteps. Somehow everyone in town had VHS players. In season 5, during the graduation episode, Archie and his classmates dug up a time capsule that had been buried for 75 years, previously in 1945. That means they graduated in 2020, which was when the episode was originally supposed to air. Technically the year is 2027. Still, there are dated cars and old fashioned style town landmarks. But, is anyone really keeping track at this point?

What can I say? I don’t care how old I am. I will always love this show, and I will continue to keep watching it, even when the final season premieres March 23rd, 2023. I am sad to see it go, but Riverdale will forever be with us.

As Always XOXOXOXO NicoleHeart
