Lisa Frankenstein

2024 has already brought us some great movies, and this year is already off to a great start. One of my favorites so far is the movie Lisa Frankenstein.

Lisa Frankenstein stars Kathyrn Newton as Lisa and Cole Sprouse as the creature. This movie takes place in the late 80's. Lisa, a misunderstood teenager, and goth girl, meets and develops a relationship with a corpse that comes back to life as she is trying to come to terms with the loss of her mom and has to start over with a new stepmom and step-sister. Lisa feels lost and alone. Her dad remarried a horrible woman, Janet, played by Carla Gugino, and a backstabbing step-sister, Taffy, played by Liza Soberano. Lisa, being a loner, spends most of her time at this abandoned not so well taken care of in the cemetery, Bachelor's Grove.

One night, Lisa's step-sister Taffy begs her to come out to a party where Lisa is accidentally drugged and sexually assaulted. After those awful events, Lisa finds herself at the cemetery speaking to the grave of a young Victorian man (Sprouse) who had died in 1837; Lisa expresses her desire to be with him (meaning that she also wants to be dead). She wants to be away from the awful world that surrounds her.

The young man (Sprouse) that Lisa (Newton) falls in love with was a musician who had fallen in love with a woman back when he was alive and had left him for another man. He was killed after being struck by lightning. In the movie, Lisa encounters the creature and soon realizes it's the grave of a young man she visits all the time. The creature is mute, missing multiple body parts, and is covered in debris.

Lisa fixes him up, as she does creature begins to look more human. Later he admits he loves her, they both fall in love with each other. But the only way they can be together is if she is dead as well. Lisa and the creature end up murdering a few people along the way so creature can get the body parts that is needed to fix him up which also makes him start to look more like a person (a very attractive person).

Okay, I absolutely loved this movie! It’s fun, exciting, a great 80’s vibe to it. It’s funny, romantic and cute! I thought the whole movie was well put together and it was a great movie. I’ve already watched it a few times, and I personally recommend it to everyone who hasn’t seen it yet.

As Always XOXOXO NicoleHeart
