Priscilla

2024 is off to a great start for movies. At the end of 2023, the movie Priscilla was released to theaters. I loved it, but I never expected to learn even more about Elvis Presley. Back at the end of January I finally watched the movie Elvis. Honestly it popped up on my Netflix with upcoming movies. So, like I always do I get on to my prime video and search it. Even though it was a long movie it was so worth it, especially the actor who played Elvis (Austin Butler) omg major crush on him. After I watched the movie Elvis, I had to know more about his story and Priscialla’s story. I knew that there was a movie that came out to theater but I didn’t put two and two together.

I had to watch Priscilla. I mean come on, who wouldn’t want to? How the Elvis movie was from his point of view, with Sophia Coppola creating the movie Priscilla starring Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla, and Jacob Elordi  as Elvis. Which by the way both great actors.  Here’s what Priscilla is about: When teenage Priscilla meets Elvis at a party, Elvis becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments with Priscilla, a thrilling crush, loneliness and a vulnerable best friend.

Okay where do I begin? Let’s just say I didn’t know Elvis Presley was verbally and physically abusive towards Priscilla. I didn’t even know she was 14 years old when she met him when she was living in Germany with her parents (fun fact, I was born in Germany) Let alone how she had to change everything about who she was. Her image, her life. He expected her to be the woman he wanted her to be. NO IDEA how one man can be that way with a woman, nevermind, I do. He wouldn’t even let her work or have a social life.

When I watched the Elvis movie, I was sad with what Elvis had to go through growing up, losing his mom at a young age or how his manager robbed him of all of his earnings. I genuinely felt bad for him more as, well the actor who played him. I recommend watching both movies, Priscilla is an amazing movie, and so is the movie Elvis.

As Always XOXOXO NicoleHeart
