The Invitation

2022 brought us some pretty great movies, despite the fact that it took me some time to write these reviews. I decided to kick off the month of February, I would start with reviewing the movie, “The Invitation”, which made its debut on August 6, 2022. This movie draws in the viewer with mystery, thrill, and that classic, gothic horror.

“The Invitation” is a vampire tale, something we all seem to enjoy. Evie, (Nathalie Emmanuel) after losing her mom to cancer, discovers her long lost relatives by taking a DNA test. She finds out she has a cousin, Oliver, played by Hugh Skinner. Evie is invited to a huge, lavish wedding in the English countryside, and is seduced by its host, Walter De Ville (Thomas Doherty) {Doherty was also in the movies Decendants 2 & 3, which, fun fact, I have seen a million times and I would have never guessed it was the same guy.}

What Evie doesn’t realize is the reason that cousin Oliver brings her to this Lavish Wedding. He is basically bringing her to die and become a vampire. (Spoiler alert:) Evie falls for Walter, who has his own twisted and evil plans in mind.

I honestly, really liked the movie. I have watched it MORE than a few times already. "The Invitation” brings back the horror in horror movies. The thrill, the gore, the vampireyness that fans across the world yearn for. I haven’t been able to find a good horror movie in a very long time, and this movie right here hits the spot. If you like horror, scary storylines, gory, gruesome effects and vampires, well this movie is for you.

As Always XOXOXOXO NicoleHeart
