Top Gun: Maverick
Remember the 80’s? That feeling when you watched Tom Cruise on the big screen? He was young, good looking, shirtless and honestly just fine! Think back to how you felt when the opening music started in the beginning of Top Gun.
Decades later, 36 years to be exact, (which seems like an eternity) Top Gun: Maverick came to theaters, starring Tom Cruise: aka Maverick, Miles Teller, (Lt. Bradley Bradshaw: aka Rooster) and Val Kilmer (Admin Tom Kazansky: aka Iceman) Also, starring alongside Cruise is Jennifer Connelly, (Penny Benjamin) Maverick’s long lost love interest.
Maverick sets out thinking he is going back in as a pilot, but what he doesn’t realize that he won’t be flying, but he will be teaching. Not only will he be teaching these young new pilots, but also Lt. Bradley Bradshaw, (call sign Rooster) who is also the son of Maverick’s dead best friend Goose. (You probably remember Goose from the original Top Gun) He is Shocked to see Rooster after so many years, and Rooster is holding a grudge against Maverick, because Maverick is the one who held Rooster back in-flight school.
Tension between the two starts to arise, but the tension soon has to fade because of what is ahead of the new Top Gun pilots and the challenges that await them on the other side. It’s not just all games and tricks flying in those aircrafts, and Maverick must try to prepare his team of youngin's for what they are facing and what dangers they will likely encounter. Maverick knows, being the crazy pilot from the very first Top Gun, and losing his best friend aka Goose.
I truly felt that the movie Top Gun: Maverick was just as good as the very first Top Gun movie. Even after 36 years, I still felt that rush, that thrill, and I still got those same goosebumps as I did with the first movie. After watching this movie almost as many times as I have watched Top Gun, I still feel the same exact way as I did my very first time watching the original. Top Gun: Maverick, still being in the top 5 movies in the world, and still playing in selective theaters, has reached box offices all over the world over and over again. If you are truly a Top Gun fanatic, and you haven’t seen the new Top Gun: Maverick, go grab a copy and a good seat. It truly brings back that feeling that you felt back in the day watching the very first Top Gun movie.
